Airtel mobile broadband is stirring some interest among us and we have started to think of migrating from Dialog mobile broadband to Airtel Mobile broadband. Some people have gone one step ahead and unlocked HSPA modem which is locked by Dialog.
Today Indians are screaming that Airtel has introduced Fair user policy and they’ve cut down the speed by 50%. Oh Shit…! Yeah traitors!
Now most of the Airtel broadband users have to be careful at anytime Sri Lankan Airtel can also impose the same rule out in Sri Lanka. Applying Fair user policy and cutting the speed down. On top of all Airtel has come up with a document about FUP. 😛
I have decided to push back my plans of migrating to Airtel. We’ll wait and see what these Airtel people are up to.

But This FUP 1000 times better than Dialog
s per information/emails received by customers from Airtel, the limit on unlimited plans are as follows:
128 kbps = 10 GB data limit per month – after that speed reduced to 64kbps
256 kbps = 15 GB data limit per month – after that speed reduced to 128kbps
384 kbps = 20 GB data limit per month – after that speed reduced to 192kbps
512 kbps = 25 GB data limit per month – after that speed reduced to 256kbps
1 Mbps = 50 GB data limit per month – after that speed reduced to 512kbps
Airtel users have confirmed that their speeds have been reduced to half of what their package promises.

@Rukshan
Yeah. I agree with you.
We’ll have to wait and see what Dialog & Airtel up to.

Airtel should realize that the bandwidth they now provide itself is insufficient. This is a different age. Companies like Airtel stand in the way of progress. They make huge profits and talk of a Friendly User. What about a Friendly Company Plan (FCP)

Can feel your pain, Why don’t you try another SIM. I mean Dialog or Mobitel to check whether the problem existing with your dongle or with the provider.

Hi people,
I unlocked my Dialog e220 HSPA model and using a Mobitel SIM card, compared to Dialog prepaid package download speed doubles in mobiel. But still many people use Dialog even it’s slow since Mobitel packages are somewhat expensive. Average download speed I checked in Dialog is about 50kbps.But with Mobitel it exceeds 100kbps.My next mission is to try internet browsing with an Airtel SIM card. Many people says that Airtel is even slower than Dialog. But I’ll check and want to verify.

I have been a loyal customer of airtel broadband for the last 7 years, and my speed has increased from 64>128>256>384>512>1024 now.
when I was in 384 kbps, the marketing department asked me if i was interested in 1 mbps, i said, drop the price, and not increase it. they did increase the base price, citing recession!!! can you believe it ?
the day they are going to restrict me with a FUP, i’m going to shut them out in favour of BSNL. whatever complaints BSNL may have, its good to show these monopolists a middle finger.

I have been using Airtel broadband since end of February. Initially the connection was unlimited but the speed was very slow. I made complains more than 10 but they simply said the issue is same for all the unlimited package customers. But later i realized the issue was only with me and they limited my speed to 256kbps for five months and they told lie. Their customer service very poor. I had to prove them, then they finally accepted and got the 1.8Mbps and again after one week same issue.
Now i changed it to celebration 600 package and for last four days having another issue that is often speed drops to 0kbps. I’m not gonna make any complains but going to permanently disconnect the connection and going to get Mobitel broadband offered for Upahara package users. That is my bad experience with Airtel Broadband.
