Dialog once again slashed the prices. This initiation is an expected one as Mobitel offers cheaper call rates and Indian mobile giant Airtel enters market.
Per-second billing is given to both prepaid KIT and to post paid packages. According to new rates post paid package users can enjoy 1000 minutes D2d free calls. Still incoming calls are not free for pre-paid customers. Don’t worry soon dialog has to offer free incoming calls feature or they’ll be sacked.
I hope Dialog will cut-down the charge for data surfing, and then only mobile broadband, mobile browsing etc will be cost efficient for us.
I wonder what tiego and Hutch do these days??? Is anyone still using these operators??

Anyway people these days use skype. Skype quality is much better than these service providers. Most of the offices like mine all the staff have skype id’s.
I don’t think Hutch or Tigo will face much problem as these days they are not putting up the base stations. But I guess Suntel and Lankabell CDMA provides will face real problem as customers will leave sooner or later unless they also reduce the charges. As an added note when some body travel from Trinco to Colombo via Galoya Junction by Train might notice that there is no coverage from Dialog or Mobitel while Tigo have coverage. My colleague from Baticaloa use Tigo sim at the Gal oya. So there will be customers any way just because of coverage. Plus in Trinco North only Mobitel is having towers (Although Pullmoddai tower most of the time switched off due to current situation).
What I see most logical from the customer point of view is that let the mobile be on roaming mode. For instance Dialog mobile user is not close to any Dialog Tower but close to Mobitel tower if they have an agreement it would be better. I faced problem when I go to Muttur from Trincomalee just because was no Mobitel coverage but there is Dialog coverage.

What you say is acceptable. To survive in the market Suntel and Lanka bell must cut-off their charges. I’m sure they’ll do so.
Sharing coverage is an interesting idea as we share ATM machines regardless of Banks, but I don’t think Sri Lankan mobile industry is matured enough to go for that initiation. May be itz a good idea for western countries.
